There are quite a few movies that I've found to be outstanding, but it seems like they're becoming fewer and further between these days.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned "Casablanca" yet. I'd agree with others, regarding "Shawshank Redemption," "Milagro Beanfield War," "Oh Brother Where Art Thou," and "North by Northwest."

I would add to that list "Charade," "To Catch a Thief," "Cannary Row," "Lion King," and "Get Shorty."

Best,

Michael
Nothing comes close to:

"That Thing You Do!".

except perhaps "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"

I tend to like anything done by Tom Hanks, and also most stuff by Nicholas Cage. Not sure why.
Oh....and "Sweet Home Abalam"...
I mean, Alabama.
Ah, Nicolas Cage..."whatanactah"!    He's right in there with my favorite line ever..."Ah seyed, put...th' bunnih...baack...in th' baw-ux"...

And Don, O Brother? Don't get me started! There are so many good lines in there, it's easier just to delete the "not-so-good" ones...!

Good for you, Don A!
Until his post, no one had mentioned Braveheart.
It should get more than one vote, so:
Braveheart

Braveheart

Also enjoy Notting Hill when in the mood for British humor.
Which, by the way is most often--their sense of humor is SO much funnier than ours here in America.
